ESEA-O S3 Week 7.1 Predictions

Knights of Goku over Area 51 - 5-3

Area 51 is undergoing some roster changes, with Ekos apparently taking the temporary role of demoman. They recently picked up CB, but he didn’t play medic in their latest game, and I’m not sure how effective he is at other classes. Knights of Goku was dominant in their last game against No Grid, a team that 51 gave up a round to on the same map. If KoG can bring their six starters, they’ll take this one, and give 51 their first loss of the season.

No Grid over Iconic - 5-2

While No Grid has been looking ever more impressive lately (ignore the blowout by KoG), Iconic has been pretty cold, most recently dropping yukon to vVv 5-0.

Doin work over Expertise - 5-0

Both Expertise and Doin work dropped their most recent match to 404 5-2. Expertise ran their regular starter roster minus Killz, who might have made a difference, but probably not enough to turn the loss into a victory. Doin work ran a totally revamped roster that features some of the most skilled players in Open, but lost, probably because they either never scrimmed together, or at the very least, that map. If they do get some practice in, they will be an unstoppable force on freight, a custom that most players are familiar with. Watch for dosr, forcestealer, and noun, three players with pro experience.

404 Not Found over vVv - 5-2

vVv looked pretty strong after they beat Iconic last week 5-0. However, I don't believe their momentum will carry into their match against the hot 404, who won in convincing fashion against doin work and expertise, two solid teams. As usual, expect CometoJesus to carry...er, I mean contribute to 404's win.

Cool Dudes over Slaughterhouse - 5-2

Slaughterhouse recently quit, and a new team has taken over. I recognize a few names, but until they can show what caliber team they are, I'm going to predict against them. Cool Dudes's roster changes seem to have left them worse off, but I'm pretty confident they can take this one.

Crack Clan vs. Most pro team ever

I don't know whether the second team is still alive or not, they haven't reached three forfeits, but they haven't played a match in weeks. If they do play, then expect Crack Clan to take this one, and perhaps give up a round or two.

throwback over Overthrow - 5-2

Both teams are solid, but throwback has a lot more experience, smarts, and overall dm skills. Like last week's matchup against the terribles, throwback will win and drop two rounds.

Zilla over eXult - 5-3

This one will be real close - can the new soldier-medic combo of zeroskillz and thenoid bring exult to victory? This match depends a lot on how much they've scrimmed as a team, since their current lineup is maybe a week old. In a few weeks, I'd predict this one otherwise, but for now, Zilla has a solid team together that has been rolling along smoothly, and they'll take this one.

Strickland Propane over Cardboard Robotz - 5-3

Robotz's scouts have underperformed in their latest matches, but Propane doesn't have quite the dominating scout force that Zilla wields. I think Propane will surprise us again, and win yet another match as the underdog. Watch for w00t to counter the strong soldier force of Robotz.

Terribles over Kryptic - 5-4

Last week Kryptic was shut down 5-0 against Overthrow, a team that they could have been competitive with if they had six. This week, they face the terribles, who did well in taking two rounds from throwback. These two teams are about even, and in their last matchup on badlands, the terribles took it 4-3. I think they'll take this one too, and it will be close all the same.
