ESEA-I S5 W3 Predictions

Hello everyone!  So i figured i'd give predictions a shot since they seem to be hard to come by now a days.  For those of you who do not know me, i'm Phaser - i currently play for MoB gaming in ESEA-I.  Before this i've played for HF, sway, pure e sports, and TDA.  I've been around since the game started all the way back to the first cevo tourney.  Being around the game, leagues, and players this long has hopefully helped on my insight into these predictions.  Hope you enjoy - be gentle, it's my first time :)

Complexity v Loaded

Complexity is looking great so far - pretty much blowing past everyone they've faced and making it look almost too easy.  It's no mystery that their scout duo continues to carry them, but add along 2 solid soldiers, one of the best demos in the game - and hopefully a consistent medic in pure and i can almost guarantee they go back to the finals again.  Loaded has all the talent to make it far, but they have yet to really click in a match.  They recently added my boy reen to the mix, so it will be interesting to see if he is a starter or just a backup - and if he has lost any of his pizzazz.  Hopefully with a few more matches together they can make an impact in the division- unfortunately I do not see that happening in this match though.

EG v Complexity

MOTW

This will definitely be an awesome match.  The top 2 teams squaring off on a map that hasn't seriously been played in NA will definitely add to the excitement here.  EG has been playing solid lately, and cyz/syck (if on their top game) i feel are capable of leveling off the col. duo.  Carn/enigma are known for being amazingly coordinated with flanks and double attacks - but this is more of a head on DM scenario so i'll be curious to see how this pans out.  The demo/ soldier matchups are too close to call, this will be ridiculous!   It will also depend on what new strats we see...engy, maybe even a heavy???  I think this will be a close one regardless, i can't foresee either of these teams playing super aggressive and getting blown out by silly strats.  While this could go either way, i just have a feeling EG will edge this one out and keep their undefeated steak alive.  Make this your HLTV / Demo download of the week :)

Pandemic v Dynamic

Pandemic has played pretty consistent so far relying on smart play and a not so agressive play style as shown on both koth and follower.  They seem to all play very well together, and justin has proved to be a their stand out player as of now.  Dynamic on the other hand seems to be having some issues.  Whether it's the new players in the mix, or just lack of consistent players showing up - it has seen to hurt them drastically.  With talent like slardel, dummy, and paladin on the roster - i think they will be able to get out of that rut...it just depends on how bad they want it.  I see this match going one of two ways - a complete blowout, or a close game - it all depends on what dynamic brings to the match that night.

Pandemic>Dynamic

Loaded v MoB

FYI i will not predict a W/L against my team - i'll just add my 2 cents :)

If loaded is looking to get out of their rut, this is their match to do it in.  Rep, reen, and hell on one team could be a very scary thing - all i need to do is leave mob and join and we can make TDA again :P.   If MoB ever starts scrimming seriously (sad face), we could have a very interesting match here.  Hopefully platinum fixes his gay connection, hopefully i fix my even gayer connection - and we trade our even more super gay demoman for someone who doesn't think the sword and shield is better than the sticky launcher.  GLHF Loaded!

Blight v EG

Blight fell a bit short last week against a strong pandemic team.  So was it because of ruwin leaving or they simply got outplayed??  I guess that's the debate for now and everyone will draw their own conclusion.  The next question is who will Blight bring in as med?  Hopfeully they can get a consistent replacement (whether blackstar or grieve)  and get back to their winning ways.  With EG - expect very solid play all around.  Destro really came into his own last season - I KID I KID - everyone knows he rapes.  I expect to see him dominating the mid battles with pipes and black wieners flying everywhere.  We may even see syckness do some sniping as well (and if that happens look out for a pokey countersnipe) - i guess the good thing about new maps is we get to see all kind of new strats, which adds even more excitement to these matches.  While i don't feel this will be a blowout, i see EG dominating more of the full team battles that we will see at the mid rush.

EG>Blight

MoB v i7

Ahhh this will be an interesting match.  Of any of the teams we've scrimmed, we've never gone back and forth as much with anyone as these guys.  i7 has a great core 6, and some very legit utility backup now in DL.  I think i7 is also the only team that has played all of their week 1 and 2 matches.  They fell short against col. in their last match, but had some pretty nice holds and attacks.  We at mob still need to complete our 2nd follower match and hope to come back strong against Pand., rebounding from our col. tomahawking.  Unfortunately, we haven't scrimmed each other in a while, and never on a map like turbine.  I could see both us and i7 running multiple strats - including engy's and snipers.  Can't wait, should be a great match - GL HF i7

synthol>bloodsire

Blight v Dynamic

Blight will be looking to come back strong after what many consider to be an upset loss to pandemic.  They still have every tool to go all the way to the playoffs again.  As mentioned in my other pred - all they need is a consistent medic and i don't see them falling out of the top 4 this season.  Dynamic will definitely have a rough time until they find their new core 6 - while i still feel this is a very talented team with great skill, they need to get a permanent scout duo and figure out who their medic will be instead of improvising.  I hope they stick through long enough to work things out!  However i don't see this match going in their favor - expect to see big play from seagull and pokey at mid to help carry Blight back to the win column.

Pandemic v i7

MOTW #2

Now this is one i will want to watch :).  Pandemic has had 2 very strong performances so far - their biggest challenge still awaits in their makeup match against coL. on koth.  I guess after that it will really give everyone a bird's eye view of the possible outlook of the season.  Pandemic's strength so far has been shown in their great scouting/sniping with Justin and fanom.  However in this case, they will have an almost perfect counter with Bloodsire and Stam.  If justin tries to snipe, expect bloodsire to counter - and that alone should be worth watching.  On the soldier front, from my POV it seems i7's soldiering has been very coordinated with fastfire making a great comback this season to compliment warped.  Pand.'s duo in WW and TLR, while they may be better in individual skill, they will need to work more as a pair then in their last match on follower where their medic was left stranded several times.  Ducky and kermit will also be an interesting showdown as they both have a VERY similar play style - both known for starting out passive then getting super agressive out of nowhere and sometimes over extending.  Turbine however will force them to play one way or another, and whoever adapts faster will be the victor here.

While my gut is telling me pandemic will win, i have this itch that just makes me want to say i7 can pull this off.  GL to both teams!

#2 eXtine 2010-01-04 06:05 Nice predictions Phaser! Thanks for getting these done. When it comes to predictions, the more opinions expressed the better.

Blight has a tough week ahead of them and definitely how they perform in response to losing ruwin will show their potential to fill that #4 spot. They better watch out for Pandemic!

MoB and Dynamic both are trying to get their season into gear, best of luck! ESEA-I is a tough crowd this year…
