This week, CEVO moves to cp_well. Two teams have already dropped out -- Complexity, one of the top teams in North America, has disbanded and the sponsor has dropped the game, and bitchbangers.usa apparently lost their nerve thinking about having to play good teams and quit CEVO-M. So far, they've been replaced with Notalent and Holocaust Brothers, but word is that HB is also a dead team, so they'll probably be quickly removed. In any case, here are the preds for week 2:
Frag Dominant vs. VG - Knights of Goku
The sponsor Frag`Dominant has picked up the TF2 team we all know and love -- Lightning Bolt. Another strange case of repetition here for us, since we played FragD in TWL on the same map just a few days ago. It should be a fun game!
Slaughterhouse Gaming vs. Strickland Propane
Last week I predicted that Slaughterhouse would take a few rounds off FragD, but they ended up losing 5-0 -- so maybe I'm giving them too much credit. They'll have to step it up here against Strickland Propane. Strickland is arguably a weaker team than FragD (when FragD is at their best, but lately they've been inactive and as such not on top of their game), but they're still very organized and have competent players all around. Arx might slip some smart backcaps in, since it's well, but Strickland should have this. 5-1 Strickland Propane
notalent vs. Team EG
Notalent has some skilled players (notably ricco, who has put some impressive sniper videos out), but they're pretty outmatched here against EG. 5-0 Team EG
the terribles vs. Stackers Union
Most people don't realize how good the terribles are, and they're seemingly afraid to admit it themselves. No, that time you guys played us, we weren't playing off classes -- you actually were putting up a fight and took a round or two. The Stackers haven't really been performing as well as I thought they would in TWL, and I don't think they scrim much either -- so I'm gonna go with the upset here and call a terribles win. It'll probably take the full hour, though. 4-3 the terribles
Team Caboose vs. Blight.Businessmen
This is my MOTW. Caboose is always a fun team to watch, and the Businessmen have enough skill to make it an interesting game. Provided Caboose's scouts stay alive to prevent backcaps, I think they'll take the win. Caboose's heavy classes outmatch virtually everybody in terms of pure DM skill, and they aren't slouches in the strategy/smarts department either. Xelorate & friends should put up enough of a fight to make it competitive, but I don't think they have what it takes to beat out TC. 5-3 Team Caboose
pointandclick vs. No Grid
No Grid lucked out a bit with their FFW against a dead Complexity, but pac isn't going anywhere, and likely isn't going to give No Grid much of a break. I would say pac is one of the top 10 teams in North America, and while No Grid has some talent, pac is too good to lose here. Someone on pac might mess up and let a round-winning backcap by, but that's probably about it. 5-1 pointandclick
Good luck everybody!
