On Wednesday night, ESEA owner lpkane said in an ESEA discussion topic that the league will "most likely pull the plug on tf2 after this season, but regardless... try and finish out this season strong." In response to other comments, he said, "comments exactly like that are why you won't see tf2 on esea past this season," later adding that he was "dropping a game that loses [him] money." When asked for a definite "yes or no" on whether the league would continue running TF2 after the current season, he answered simply, "after this thread, signs point to no."

Last I looked, the only cs teams giving tf2 a shot were in cevo…perhaps because newer players/teams maintain some hesitation about committing payment (however small) to try the game out. TWL succeeds based off newer teams, ESEA off serious teams, and cevo is caught in the middle.
I would argue contrary to most. I think options are great, and ESEA as an option is even better, but I do not think it had improved TF2 in the way people assume it has. I think it has constricted some of TF2's life, and duped players to believe this business model is the only "worthy" avenue to compete in tf2.
what kind of paying customers bait and troll the people who work hard to give them what they want? not very good ones if you ask me. afk
Did they think that their league would just make free money without them putting any effort into it? Or did they just not think there was much money to be made? So then why did they go into TF2 in the first place?
3:00 PM - Torbull: the plan isnt to pull the plug
3:00 PM - Torbull: but we need to see ongoing traction

Kane: "Fuck you! If you don't like it leave."
I see his point requiring the use of the client, since it is a major part of their system, they need it to easily authenticate who is playing, collect stats, and an STV.
Unfortunately it seems like he hasn't seen any one else's points regarding get matches played when there is an update incoming. His quote about getting mad about not being able to play a videogame just shows his ignorance in dealing with eSport atheletes. The problem isn't that we can't play TF2, it's that we CAN play TF2, but CAN'T play scheduled matches. Without giving up any lee-way on getting scheduled matches played, he's creating more problems. Perhaps if they know an update is coming, they could switch over to a bare-bones client that won't break, then fully update again that night when no one is playing.
If ESEA falls through, TF2'ers will go elsewhere. The community will be fine and will take what little disposable income to someone else.
