Both teams stormed past last round’s opponents, the dinosaurs raking in a 5-1 score against Xensity and Leviathan Gaming securing victory over Beybladers at 5-2 on cp_snakewater. Tonight’s winner will meet up with Washed Up Gaming next round for a chance at dethroning LASER BEAMS in the Championship!

Tonight’s map is cp_gullywash_final1, a five-point capture point map, and it looks like the dinosaurs are a little stronger on this map-type than Leviathan Gaming. A composite season and post-season count brings the dinosaurs to 10 wins on CP maps, while Leviathan Gaming only has 7, and one of the dinosaurs’ wins was against the 14-2 (end of season standings) LASER BEAMS. Leviathan Gaming has never come out on top against the dinosaurs, having lost to them in season 10 week 1 on cp_badlands and week 8 on cp_granary, both similar in style to tonight’s map.
Will we be seeing a grudge victory? While Leviathan Gaming tends to do somewhat more damage than the dinosaurs, they may also be a bit more aggressive. Taking the high-ground is good practice, but a soldier on the high platform on cp_gullywash’s middle point is a prominent target for snipers, demos, rocket spam and focus fire; and since an early push on this map requires the medic to walk through the narrow passage leading up to the enemy’s choke point at mid (which is also extremely vulnerable to spam), that sort of aggression is very risky. I’m thinking that the dinosaurs' more conservative, take-damage-and-build-uber outlook paired with kbk-‘s defensive mediccing style will keep the dinosaurs on top this round.
