ESEA Open Team Watch - Unibroue S9M2

Welcome to the Team Fortress 2 ESEA Open Bonanza Week!

All these Open casts...I guess people want to know how far they need to go to play competitively. Or just enjoy pretending that they know more than the ones playing. That would be me.

This is the second match for Unibroue on Snakewater, this time against The Seal Team Six. Note: Unibroue was still called Xylofun at this point.

Lineup

Medic - Reds_0677
Pocket - Cinq
Roamer - Kaypin
Scout - SidaR
Scout - Wintersun
Demoman - SharKill

Game Sense - Unibroue had several times where they should have used an advantage (player or uber advantage) and were too hesitant to do so. Also only once did they switch a class (Wintersun went Sniper) and it didn’t help much; more creativity and fast reactions will improve their play. Overall players overextended less than last time on Snakewater. Heal order appears to need to be thought out more often as Unibroue was slow to get to full health and overheal, especially for SharKill.

Deathmatching - Cinq and Kaypin really shined on Soldier, and Wintersun and Sidar performed solidly on Scout. But SharKill seems to be too passive to me. Playing back is ok but you have to really not let anyone get close to you and SharKill appeared to almost be spectating in his passiveness. Reds still needs to be more conscious of dodging spam. As a team I would have liked to see more calling out of enemies so they could be killed without a forced uber.

Communication - I noticed a few times where Reds was getting hammered down by a scout and her teammates took too long to notice, or even never did notice. This could be lack of awareness but I think that it should be clearly communicated by Reds. Whether she was not yelling about it or simply SharKill (as it was) was not listening well enough I do not know. Otherwise, there were also times when some of Unibroue pushed and some didn’t. As a new team, I posit it being most likely that they have yet to establish a clear caller to know when to go.

Positioning - Unibroue has good positioning when they are in battle. But just how basketball is about moving without the ball, in TF2 positioning is dependent on where you hold up and where you push in before firing a shot. Often their players were clumped together when retreating or pushing and, due to some indecisiveness, a few times they ended up on low ground ubering early; in one case, SharKill went out first and got blown up by a simple sticky trap, causing an uber from Reds with no Demoman to attack. Not a high percentage play. Individually, the Scouts for Unibroue watch flanks well on their own but could work together more often and cover them faster.

I removed the Predictability category as it is now incorporated into the other ones.
