Why the Vanilla Challenge?
Valve has chosen a different direction for Team Fortress 2. Instead of pushing sales of the game itself, they have reverted to in game micro-transactions. In order to keep this process going Valve must continuously release unlocks, hats, accessories, and other miscellaneous items.
Valve has released a whopping 744 items over its game's history. While new players might enjoy continuous new content, this poses a challenge for the competitive community. Leagues and administrators have to take time to test new weapons or they have support teams to do it. They have to constantly judge how a weapon will affect play along with facing community scrutiny. CEVO has virtually done away with all of that and taken us back to basics.
That's right, old school! No gunboats, no equalizer, no sandvich, no flare gun, and no wrangler! Just a few simple medic unlocks and a ton of fun!
How many teams are needed?
CEVO needs at least 64 teams in order to have an action packed highly competitive season. Teams are currently signing up and the registration deadline is fast approaching (Feb. 2nd). All teams are invited to join this unique event.

The format?
Every game is important as teams will be vying to be on top of their division and take home the fame, the glory, and cash. The event will consist of nine matches with one match played each week.
The maps?
Great league play consists of great map choices. This blast from the past challenge will include classic competitive maps such as granary, badlands, and gravel pit. Quality maps currently embraced by the community such as koth_pro_viaduct. Also, no capture the flag, no payload, and most custom maps are out.
