CEVO has released the brackets for the OCZ $2500 Open Tournament in a news release. Each of the four brackets have 32 teams despite there only being 105 total teams @ready. This means that there are 25 BYES in the first round ((32x4) - 103) with 4 in bracket A, 6 in bracket B, 6 in bracket C, and 7 in bracket D. It seems that using a 4 sub-bracket, 128 team system was the only possible route for a double elimination event like this one - after the first two rounds (one in the upper brackets and one in the lower brackets), there will be no more BYEs. A note within the news release states that "...teams [have been] split up into 32 team brackets with the top team from each bracket advancing into the double elimination grand final..." This note continues to say that the teams were randomly assigned seeds and that each bracket was formed based on team location when possible.
The first round matches for the tournament will be played on Monday, May 11th and rosters will be locked on that date. The news post mentions that teams that want to join need to email easchow [at] cevo.com by Thursday, May 7th if they want to be added to the tournament.
