This double elimination tournament will determine who is the CEVO Season 8 Open Champion. The granddaddy competitive map of them all, Granary, awaits our teams this week. The Upper Bracket winner Immortal 6 will play the Lower Bracket winner in the finals. The Lower Bracket contains teams that must win or go home!

Lower Bracket

Superior Posterior (11-2) vs. Police Injustice (9-3)

The additional preparation that the Police Injustice put into organizing successful battles to win mid paid off. Wejen was able to push SP back to their last point during the first round. Injustice came close to capping last before getting wiped out. The teams were hesitant at times including a huge stalemate while both teams tried to use a sniper to get key picks. Superior was about to get the upper hand and fight all the back to win the first round.

The second round was similar with Superior being pushed back almost to last before mounting an offensive attack. Zebra Cakes was able to pull off a sweat medic pick while Wejen was reloading and could not protect. The pick gave SP an uber advantage which allowed them to win the second round with ease. Round three was won quickly by Superior as they were able to uber their scout Earshot who picked off two players with his pistol. The final two round ended with SP simply overpowering Police Injustice with quality death match play. Superior Posterior moves on to face SWAG PANTALONES in Round 6 of the CEVO playoffs on Gravelpit.

Quote of the match by eXtine, "CEVO making a comeback," in reference to their new leadership and The Vanilla Challenge.

SWAG PANTALONES (10-3) vs. Dropaholics (7-4)

The match was dominated by SWAG as they dropped the Dropaholics 5-0. Swag was able to handedly win mid-fights only losing the battle during one round. Lazky faced the unfortunate embarrassment by blowing himself during a rollout. This was not enough to keep Swag down as they outfragged Dropaholics 72 to 48 after four rounds of play. Shootist and Liko tied for the most frags with 19 each with Liko winning the kill assist per death battle with 3.375.

The medic contest was a little more evenly matched as both Bella and SonnyDropUberBoi had four ubers deployed with zero drops. SonnyBoi was able to best Bella in the kill assists per death total (1.273 to 0.875) despite dying three more times. The Dropaholics were able to thwart a few pushes to last by SWAG but their defense didn't hold up for long. Scouts were able to flank and kill SonnyBoi on a couple of occasions which allowed SWAG to take last.

Bella (SWAG) had these kind words for the Dropaholics; "I really have to hand it to 'not-sonny,' he added me to Steam to talk about scheduling. That's the first team that has gone out of their way to make it seem like they actually /want/ to play." Finally, let the record show that Shootlist (SWAG) had more kills than Lazky during the first four rounds.
