Peter constructed the followed letter in response to Free's Screaming Eagle's #23 Article, but due to the character limitations of comments, and the general length, I am instead posting it here. Click read more to see what Peter Mansbridge has to say for himself on the issues raised by Free, and my own views on the issue at hand.
"'I'd like to ask Peter to make good on his offer: resign from eXtv.
Resign from IB. Walk away, study the play book, and, most important,
resign from ass-hattery.'
I am going to take the advice about ass-hattery, the most important
part of your message, but I am going to respectfully try to stay a part
of this community. Here’s the deal…I admit to everything posted above.
I apologize for it and regret it. While I wish Free had come to me
with this privately, maybe it’s better that it’s out in the open and
can be reminded about it. I have a bad problem with anger and have
said some really shitty stuff to other players behind other people’s
backs while holding my tongue in public (for the most part). I am
trying to improve that. Trust me my team has talked to me about it
too.
The funny thing is…maybe it’s just damning irony…but following
Performance Enhanced’s controversial thread on UGC causing such an
uproar and mud slinging back and forth, I made a decision that the
road that I was going down…discussing trolling UGC by forfeit and
spawning the headless horseman during the finals…even just straight up
locking STV on the server….was wrong. At that point, I informed my
team that we were going to try to return to UGC for Season 4 and be
positive despite the misgivings we have about how the admins might
have handled some stuff this season. If we had issues, I would
approach them as positively as possible instead of raging and
discussing plans to try to piss off the admins. I’ve now seen where
trolling and jackassery takes people after the P.E. controversy and I
don’t want to go there. Of course…right after that a damning expose
gets published on me.
After speaking with my team and eXtine I’ve decided to try to make
amends and make my contributions to the community positive not
negative, as well as try my best to make IB a fun team to play against
and coordinate with. I will be speaking to several individuals to
personally apologize to them, including the admins over at UGC and
GunRunners.
At the same time, while my words were inexcusable in these chatlogs, I
would like to say they were just words, said in moments of rage (which
I can really be susceptible to), and in the case of the chatlog about
UGC it was saved by a member of a team that Inglorious Broadcasters
thought they trusted at the time. It was pure venting to someone I
believed was an ally, nothing more. A few hours later I had cleared my
mind of the whole damned thing and was intent on playing the UGC
finals as best as we could as a team, and take it as an opportunity to
learn from better players.
I am not trying to excuse my actions…just trying to help people relate
to why I might have said certain things and how I tend to lose control
of myself a bit when I get pissed. A lot of these chat logs were hand
picked to show the worst of me. Not excusing what I said or what I
did, but I am capable of contributing positively to the TF2 community
and I am intent on making amends and ensure that I become a better
member of the community overall.
One thing I am going to refute to my grave though…maybe this was
always a misunderstanding…I have never EVER used my position as eXtv
to gain any advantage over teams, communities, or admins. The most I
do as eXtv’s stream producer is ask a team if they want to be cast and
try to coordinate a good time to get it done. That’s it. This whole
thing about me using eXtv to gain leverage started when I explained to
Fixxxer of Gun Runners that a particular day wasn’t good for my team
because myself and Parable had a cast to take care of. The whole thing
about us casting gR from Valve in that chat log was just a light
hearted joke.
Overall though, I accept what is being written here as valid and I
will try to make amends for it as best as I can as long as my team and
eXtv are willing to continue with me. If not, I am happy to step
aside, I’d rather they continue being a part of the community
positively without me ruining it for them.
Peter Mansbridge
P.S.: Hildreth, Stoics used to be our sister team and we would commonly exchange demos and help each other out. They needed an engi sub desperately and we said they could use ours. No mischief intended here."
Peter had come to me and offered to resign after previous bad behavior of his had come to light. Remorse, atonement, and forgiveness are things I believe in and I want to encourage people to improve their behavior rather than casting them out of the community. Without a doubt, eXtv does not wish to represent or encourage any of these problematic behaviors Peter has eXhibited. We have strong principles of sportsmanship and respect and eXpect anyone associated with our company to reflect those principles.
Peter's outbursts have certainly been disappointing, but he has acknowledged his wrongs and seeks to make things better. At eXtv we believe in rehabilitation through hard work. Peter has spent a lot of time trying to improve the quality and frequency of eXtv coverages. It's through working with him in these capabilities that I believe Peter truly wants to improve the community.
I definitely agreed with the spirit of Free's post, but I believe that Peter can change his ways and redeem himself by continuing to do hard work for the community.
We always listen to feedback from the fans and the community, and if you disagree with my decision to keep Peter on board the eXtv staff, definitely voice your opinion. If there is misbehavior from the eXtv staff I can be e-mailed eXtine at eXtelevision.com

Things like this don't just happen for no reason, people in the community didn't get together and say "Hey lets screw mansbridge over" it is what it is. Shit goes around, he happen to open his mouth too many times.
Do we really need a smear campaign? This season was a little crazy at times but I think Peter and many others are ready to move on and improve the league with a positive outlook.
I think it would be more fair to make Peter provide his personal POV demos in official matches. If there is any complaint, the demo is out for public evaluation. After a season or two, if he's not hacking, then there is no need to worry.
"Improper behavior, terrible sportsmanship and just plain horrible conduct" don't warrant a ban or a suspense for a player, unless stated otherwise in the rulebook of that league. If one is cheating, breaking, or exploiting the game in such a way that gives himself a special advantage above all the other players, then that merits a ban.
@Parable: I agree, if we ban someone based on one thing, suddenly we will have to do the same for every other player we stumble over the internet.
But, since Peter is a more visible person, I trust he will be more careful in the future. He is, after all, representing entities bigger than himself.
If Peter was suspended from a league, it wouldn't "effectively kick him out of eXtv", he'd have more free time to stream matches.
It's all hypothetical, but I just wanted to clarify that line of thought.
While I appreciate your sentiment, banning Peter from playing competitively, especially for a whole year, is wrong for a couple reasons, let alone that it effectively kicks him out of the eXtv. Who wants to spend their time and energy promoting something they aren't allowed to play?
First, it assumes there is a central authority for competitive TF2 to manage this sort of thing. Asking for a ban from CommFT is one thing, but Peter received a warning and hasn't done anything since that warning to warrant a ban.
Second, there are lots of ragers and rude people who play this game, and you aren't calling them out individually. Why should Peter be banned from comp just because he's a more visible member of the community, due to him having contributed far more positive stuff with his work in eXtv than most of players?
Peter's made many mistakes due to his temper. This is his wake up call, he knows he will be held accountable, so let's give him the chance to make it right.
However, I believe he should not be allowed to play competitively in any format for at least a season. Improper behavior, terrible sportsmanship and just plain horrible conduct should be punished. One open letter to the community can't be a "get-out-of-jail-free" card.
If Peter's intentions to go through with his Mea Culpa are genuine, then good for him, and I hope that he learns and grows from this situation.
picked to show the worst of me."
Here is the whole thing.

Sure let him have another chance. Every one deserves another chance, but be warned is he really going to "help" the community? Mr Mansbridge has told quite a few people that he has multiple "trolling" accounts, on which he uses hacks and trolls servers.
He has also shared the information including login and password to his login information to the site for his hacks. Unfortunately the conversation of him giving the login information of his "hack login info" or whatever, was not saved. Mansbridge is the biggest two face person I have ever met. Some days he would be friend, some days he would be foe. I think he just tries to make him self look good to the community, but obviously the dirt on mansbridge is out.
Good luck with this guy.
A noble sentiment and one that, I hope, sticks.
"He always replys and says sorry, but he continues to be an ass hat. Sorry can only get u so far after that its over to you changing your attitude."
Hopefully this time he follows up on his words.
