LANChamp TF2 Re-schedules

Unfortunate news out of the LANChamp camp today...

Due to multiple reasons, LANChamp has decided to pull back from the previously announced August 7th Los Angeles 16 team tournament. The whole schedule concerning the finalization of the LAN center and the announcement of the tournament had gotten pushed back to a point where LANChamp felt like this event couldn't be pulled off as it should be. LANChamp still remains committed to Team Fortress 2 and getting an event put together. With taking a step back, LANChamp will be getting everything concerning this venture into better shape, including picking a location which more teams will be able to make it to.

#9 shdw.puppet 2010-07-07 07:39 dallas is only close to California and itself. There are plenty of Canada and Chicago area players, some in the midwest, more on the coast. That part of the country has had a lot of LANs, I think it is time for a central one.

#8 defiancd 2010-07-07 07:08 more like dallas #7

+2 #7 shdw.puppet 2010-07-07 05:39 dare I hope… the new location… chicago? Indy? SOMEWHERE BETTER????

+1 #6 Graham 2010-07-06 13:16 Well I believe that the plan is to have online qualifiers with the 16 teams chosen based on recent results in CEVO, ESEA, etc. So I don't think that's the issue that they are addressing here…it's more of a conflict with the ESEA LAN and perhaps the short notice.

#5 chipbuster 2010-07-06 12:58 yeah, I was wondering if they'd even looked at competitve TF2 before. They're going to take the best 16 teams based off of what? The Alienware quarterfinalist s, like CEVO-M?
There's just no way (as far as I know) to determine the best 16 teams unless it's really, really obvious (say, 16 div2 teams and all the rest div4)

+1 #4 Graham 2010-07-06 12:57 Good call by LANChamp. Their original timing was poor.

#3 Fish #641 2010-07-06 12:39 Cue Schetter's rebuttal. :3

#2 bcarr 2010-07-06 12:12 The more I think about it, a 7 August date is just a bit early of a date to have this done since… y'know… they had just announced the tournament.

#1 Turnip 2010-07-06 12:07 This really shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. A disappointment, but not a surprise.
