With Season 4 of TWL quickly approaching, we still don't have the final division 1 team roster from the admins. However, if they are doing what they promised by letting the top 12 teams from qualifiers in, the Division 1 roster will look like:

Crack Clan, Expertise, ionic, Kings of the Bongo, Kryptic Gaming, ploop, Snow Bear University, terribles, Treason, Truwar, Wonderwall, YoFa

I had a chance to sit down with each one of the captains (ok, I didn't sit down anywhere...this was through steam chat, back off) and asked them 5 similar questions. This questionaire will help the public get to know a little bit about each of the awesome mid to high-level teams that will be fighting for the Division 1 crown next season.

Summarize your team in a few sentences. (You can talk about the team’s personality, the way the team plays, strategy, etc)

Crack Clan is still an up and coming team with plenty to improve upon.  After not making Season 3 playoffs through TWL, we made some roster changes and were ready to go for Season 4.  The first two weeks were minor setbacks for us, but we overcame the obstacles and pulled together five consecutive wins.  Personality wise, we're all laid back guys that play for fun.  We don't do strats, just kill people :)

Why will your team succeed in Season 4?

We have chemistry. Some of us have an entire year of playtime together, while others were able to join and mesh with us instantly.

What is your team’s goal for Season 4 in TWL?

We haven't discussed our goal yet.  Our goal for the qualifier was to reach Top 5, but we fell slightly short.  We'll likely shoot for a similar goal for this season.

Which team(s) are you looking forward to playing against in D1? Why?

All of them really.  Ploop, Kryptic, Truwar, and the Snow Bears are the most fun for us to play, however.

Please explain why joose is bad.

We're relatively new, been a team since cevo season 3. We have probably the best scout pair you'll find outside of CEVO-P, in anon and Killz. On top of that we have a super aggressive rushing demo who loves his heals so we dont usually run strats revolving around a pocket solly.

Why will your team succeed in Season 4?

We'll succeed because of the experience we've gained in the past few months by playing teams which are equally skilled or better than us.

What is your team’s goal for Season 4 in TWL?

To win Season 4.

Which team(s) are you looking forward to playing against in D1? Why?

Probably WW since they have the roster capable of giving us the most competitive match.

Tictac's high school had a shoot out in the middle of the cafeteria, no one was hurt.

Ionic – Goblin40

Summarize your team in a few sentences. (You can talk about the team’s personality, the way the team plays, strategy, etc)

Our team has taken a more relaxed approach to tf2. Although during matches we do like to get down to business, I like to think that we like to joke around a lot too. As far as strategy goes however, we still try new things, personally I think the best strategy is to just out deathmatch the other team. But when we lose, I feel it's because we are weaker with our teamwork than anything else.

Why will your team succeed in Season 4?

Compared to a lot of the teams in TWL, we are pretty new, therefore we are always refining our roster to it's fullest which means recruiting new people and we've even moved our players around to differen't classes all together to see what works best. I think that because of this we can adapt to a lot of different situations.

What is your team’s goal for Season 4 in TWL?

Obviously to win it :). But of course if that isn't possible I would just like to prove ourself as a team mainly. We didn't get a chance to do that with our schedule in the qualifier season, and some teams judge us based on our scrim experience as well as a loss against ATF on gpit.

Which team(s) are you looking forward to playing against in D1? Why?

I look forward to mainly playing against Kryptic and cc//. I've known kryptic almost since they started playing and they are a prime example that experience can lead to great things. I've seen them evolve a ton through the 2-3 seasons they've been around.

Please explain why joose is bad.

Joose is bad because even when cc// was beating us on follower the other day my entire team had him dominated.

Kings of the Bongo - Sye

Summarize your team in a few sentences. (You can talk about the team’s personality, the way the team plays, strategy, etc)

We are Kings of the Bongo, and we love to bongo.  We make fun of each other constantly, especially our demoman DDL.  Our playstyle revolves around everyone not being angry at each other, and actually listening to each other's comments.  Our strategies are usually on the fly, with one or two set preconceptions before a match.

Why will your team succeed in Season 4?

Our team will succeed in season 4 of TWL because we are determined to be in the top of TWL.  Eventually we would like to be at the level of the terribles, kryptic, and eX.

What is your team’s goal for Season 4 in TWL?

We want to beat the teams we know we can beat, and give a great effort against higher-leveled teams.

Which team(s) are you looking forward to playing against in D1? Why?

We have a "tense" relationship with Kryptic, so we would like to be on an even ground with them.

Kryptic Gaming - embier

Kryptic has been together for a pretty long time. I don't really have a lot to say about how the team plays.  If we're known for anything unique, it's probably Green's love of going heavy.  Other than that, we're all just sort of used to each other, which really helps.

Why will your team succeed in Season 4?

If we succeed, it will be because our combo is solid and ghost and green complement each other well.

What is your team’s goal for Season 4 in TWL?

I don't think any of us would be playing if we didn't have fun doing it, so that's my first goal.  I don't speak for everyone on the team, but my own personal goal is to be as proud of our losses as our wins.  If we lose a match, but are all still on and ready to play more, then we're doing well as far as I'm concerned.

Which team(s) are you looking forward to playing against in D1? Why?

In no particular order,eX and WW because they're the benchmark sbu, ionic, and yofa because I like just about everyone on those teams

Tell me an embarrassing story about one of your teammates.

Well, Ghost likes to browse 4chan for child porn, but I'm not sure that's embarrassing so much as it's illegal.  You'd probably be better off asking Lore and Green for dirt on each other since they're brothers.

Ploop - Methuselah and Hibachi

Describe your team in a few sentences (this can be about their personalities, play style...anything you want the public to know)

Methuselah: Buncha totally chill dudes, we're tossin' jokes around in matches until we're at mid. We like nothing more than to mess with each other, and we have firmly established that PLOOP isn't SUPAR SRS

Hibachi: ploop is basically a group of friends who gets together on Mondays, we arent a long term team like most of the twl teams

Hibachi: tbh making d1 is already succeeding for me 

What is your team's goal in Season 4 TWL?

Methuselah: WIN SOME GAMEZ

Hibachi: some of us are still relatively new to the competitive scene, we have some players who we added who are here to learn.

Which team(s) are you looking forward to playing against the most in Season 4?

Methuselah: Bongo so we can rape them for the second time

Tell me an embarrassing story about one of your teammates

Hibachi: in the match vs TF2F, it was tied 3-3, there was like 20 seconds left and their entire team was dead, we were capping their 4th point, and our combo pushed up to last while meth capped 4^th. BUT NO, he decides to walk off before 4th is captured. So all of us are sitting on last while 4th isnt capped and the time limit runs out.

Snow Bears University - tyir

Snow Bear University is a prestigeous research-intensive coeducation university located in North Dakota. We have 24 faculties and professional schools, offering degrees in over 250 fields of study, including law, tracking moose, medicine and Team Fortress 2. The SBU competitive TF2 team was formed by the tenured professors in the TF2 faculty, as a training example for our students. We are hardworking, have excellent movement and deathmatch skills. Our competitive team has only formed in the past few months, but we are confident that our scientific approach to TF2 will serve us well. Why will you win in season 4?

I think we'll do well this season since this is our first official season with a pretty consistent lineup, as we've recently filled the last gaps in our roster. We also have the cutest avatars in the league so at worst we will distract the other team with that while medbot backcaps.

What is your team's goal in Season 4 TWL?

To have fun and improve. It looks like most of our regular scrim partners (cc//, kryptic, others) will be in D1 as well, and pretty much all the teams in D1 look to be very good, so we should get good practice.

Which team(s) are you looking forward to playing against the most in Season 4?

It's always fun playing with my buddies in crack clan and kryptic. I'm also pretty excited to play dl's wonderwall team, I'm curious how much they've been putting on their trypants. We haven't ever played a bunch of the teams (ploop, yofa, ionic), so those should be pretty interesting.

Why is joose bad?

Because he's joose. He's bad. In serious, <3 Joose, I'm still his #1 fan. P.S. shoutout to ArsClan and to our sponsors at Air Medbos, the *only* shoes for bball.

Terribles -volt

We've got cake and Poopinator on scout, they usually carry our team with crazy flanks, picks, and back-caps. Playing soldier are myself and crazy tom, we're working pretty hard on communication and positioning with our medic, Drackett. On demo is Focker, now finally playing more like a competitive player than a pubstar. Up until a few weeks ago we had no one on our team with higher-tier competitive experience, but the addition of Drackett to our team is giving us some competitive direction that we hope will compliment our decent deathmatching skill with better teamwork.

Why will your team succeed in Season 4?

We've been around a long time now, most of us have been playing together for about 8 months competitively. We also scrim regularly and discuss what we need to work on after scrims and matches. As a Season 3 finalist we can only hope for a repeat performance in Season 4.

What is your team’s goal for Season 4 in TWL?

We just hope to win against the teams we think we should win against. We're not going to be disappointed by a loss against a team we know is better than us. And of course, we hope to have fun playing and hopefully increase our skill now that we are in divisions separated by skill level.

Which team(s) are you looking forward to playing against in D1? Why?

Of the teams we generally win against, Kryptic seems to be the team that gives us the most problems. I'm waiting for their scouts to improve for them to have a good shot at beating us, though. tyir and team SBU has shown some promise and we're interested to see how they do under the pressures of a match. I'm also looking forward to seeing how we stack up against the higher skilled teams that joined from cevo/esea such as eX, ymww, yofa, and other teams that may join.

Treason – Kuza

Summarize your team in a few sentences. (You can talk about the team’s personality, the way the team plays, strategy, etc)

Some of us have been playing together a couple years now. We used to be [GD] up until this year and mainly did 7's and 8's leagues and coincidentally held the TWL 7's #1 ladder spot for the longest time, maybe all of last year.  Then we broke off with our horrible not-really-sponsors at GD and became Treason. And it's as Treason that we've been able to focus on 6's and L4D exclusively, which very much helped our game play with a sold core of 6 guys that was all [GD] plus one of our friends from [FoOm], delete. It didn't take long to start doing very well in every league we joined, STA, CEVO and TWL's season 4. It's our first run at a TWL 6's league and it's been a great experience so far.  We do have another Treason team that does TWL 7's, 5's fast attack and some 8's again as well. I can't forget to mention that we also have a new Pub team that's open for people to join our little community and get involved in competing. www.2girls1treason.com

Our 6's team right now: Platinum, Legacy and Porthos as our soldiers, Kookiez as medic and zbryan as demo. Then completing the team is our scooters, kuza and delete.

Why will your team succeed in Season 4?

We are pretty focused and driven to succeed, everyone on the team wants to win and wants to work at improving. That's been the key ingredient so far and it's helped us bake a few pwn cakes already.

What is your team’s goal for Season 4 in TWL?

All the way baby. I'm sure some teams join just for funzies but we're in it to win it.

Which team(s) are you looking forward to playing against in D1? Why?

We hope to play against everyone to see how we do against them all. It's the best way to get a feel of teams before the playoffs. I can count a good number of teams we're looking to beat and put our stamp on. So ya, pretty much all of D1.

Tell me an embarrassing story about one of your teammates.

So we needed a new medic when our old one, eXedOut, (who said he was burnt out on the game) had to stop playing. (we all know he really got owned by his GF).. but anyway on with the real story. So this guy Kookiez-R-yum wanted to try out. I'm not even sure where he came from, and I'm sure someone will remind me after reading this, but we needed a medic and not everyone is willing to do it, so we give him a shot.  We decided to try him out in a match situation and do so by scrimming Gpit against a pretty good team. At the time this was one of our more challenging maps but we were able to hold them off at B, not to shabby mr medic. One of our soldiers, Legacy, even mentions it while we're building uber in spawn waiting for our turn to attack. "This kookies guy is pretty good" and of course, not even a second before "good" drops off his lip...... POP!, fing kookies' UBERs in spawn just as he reaches 100%... At this point we all break out laughing, enough so, that we kept him around despite blowing his load early. And we're glad we did, because he's been the best little medic buddy money could buy.

Truwar - inGin

The roster that we have right now is brand spanking new. I’ve been running the show for about 7 month. Only 2 original members. Me and Hash. We’ve gone through 3 major roster changes. Everytime we do it, the roster comes back stronger. SO I’m looking forward to seeing how this new roster turns out.

Why will your team succeed in Season 4?

I make an effort to recruit dedicated players. We all know how often teams break up in a week or two. Even though we change up the roster once a while, I always manage to have a crew that is committed to being successful…that…and we also kill shit.

What is your team’s goal for Season 4 in TWL?

I think we are near the lower end in D1 at the moment. But we want to strive towards the top. We just want to win and have fun doing it too, that’s our main goal.

Which team(s) are you looking forward to playing against in D1? Why?

Terribles for sure. And when Gingers beat up everyone in D2 and make it up, the Ginger Kidz for sure. But we are definitely looking forward to playing the terribles. I thought we had a great chance of beating them last time, but we started beating ourselves…we want a revenge match

Why is joose bad?

inGin also says that the roster changes: RonNation, ukm and eX will be running scout together with eX also backing up at solly. Attean playing pocket, Gravegun roaming. Hash will be healing him as demo and he’ll be jumping and committing suicide against the other scouts.

Describe your team in a few sentences (this can be about their personalities, play style...anything you want the public to know)

Well my team is basically a pug with a bunch of players trying out different classes, not all of us are cevo-p since I actually let a bunch of mid skill level guys play, such as ziggles our medic. Pretty much it's for fun without all the pressure and stress of leagues like cevo/esea. Every match I just see who's online at the time and gather players who are free at the time, and we don't really treat it that serious, not to say that it isn’t.

Why will you succeed in season 4?

Well we all have natural chemistry with each other. Even though we don't even practice for the twl matches, we know what everyone should be doing. There probably will be a few teams that will give us a run for our money if they take it very serious and take advantage of any mistakes we make, but we're just riding on our skill and natural team chemistry with each other.

What is your team's goal in Season 4 TWL?

Just to have fun with playing different classes we don't normally play. I mean we're in it to win too, but it's not that big of a deal as the other leagues that we're in, say cevo/esea. Even though it is a pug team, I would say that it promotes the skill level of twl in general, because if teams do practice hard enough and focus on their teamwork and dming skills, they have a good chance of beating just a pug team.

Which team(s) are you looking forward to playing against the most in Season 4?

No team in particular, but it would always be fun to play whoever is #1 at the time in the standings.

Got any embarrassing stories about any teammates you want to tell us?

Umm...wonderwall randomly disappeared for like 3 weeks without telling anyone, which sorta screwed our cevo/esea team up. And...litany sucks?

The Yo Family - bruce

Describe your team in a few sentences (this can be about their personalities, play style...anything you want the public to know)

We've been pretty good friends since birth. Our family bonds are strong, and that's translated to our TF2 playstyle. But more realistically, we've basically become a pug team that tries to play as aggressively as possible in the absence of badmojo.

Why will you succeed in season 4?

I think if we don't forget about matches and field a solid 6 every week, we'll have a small chance of winning. There are some good teams that actually practice together regularly, so we're definitely not the favorites. Even if we don't win though, you can expect lots of heart and fighting in all of our matches.

What is your team's goal in Season 4 TWL?

To fight. Or field 6 every match. One of those.

Which team(s) are you looking forward to playing against the most in Season 4?

I'm not that familiar with a lot of the teams, but I know most of the kryptic and expertise guys, so that might be fun. Maybe it'll be fun to play against those wonderwall chaps, they seem spirited.

Oh dear, well i won't give names, but one time we walked in on one of the yo family masturbating, only to be turned away by "KINDA JERKIN' IT." I don't know who was more embarrassed honestly. And glook likes to mack on girls over the internet. Sometimes little boys, there's no way of knowing really.
