ESEA Season 7 Deadline Arrives

For those of you interested in participating in Season 7 of ESEA's TF2 league, the deadline for team registrations is tonight at midnight EST.  Teams that want to play are required to have seven people on their rosters and paid for by tonight's deadline.

Currently the ESEA Open division stands with 17 teams readied up and paid for, with an additional 20 or so teams signed up but not fully paid for.  Intermediate, on the other hand, has a total of 23 teams currently registered, with 5 readied up.

It's looking like whether or not this seventh season of ESEA happens or not is going to come down to a bit of a buzzer beater.  Hopefully enough teams can get it together by midnight to make the season a success.

It's laughable to make such a proposition.

You need 7 yo be garunteed a spot, however, if you have 6 you will be placed in the league in less there are an uneven number of teams, in that case 1 team will not be put into the league.

inb4 people cry about how they get their feelings hurt on gotfrag…oh wait. i'd rather go there and listen to people discuss things that aren't making them up or have no idea what they are talking about

It would suck to be that one team.

So I should read a forum filled with trolls rather than trusting an email that comes directly from ESEA, the league in question?

Your logic is idiotic.

Whether or not you actually need seven, that is the email ESEA sent out. If you really only need six, ESEA needs to officially come out and say it, not have one of their guys post occasionally in gotfrag threads only ten percent of the competitive community actually cares enough to read.

#9 Hawkeye 2010-08-24 01:38 As I understand it, if you have 6 you could stay but if there is an odd number of teams you could get bumped out or something similar.

In any case, I doubt either will happen to much to have it even be a blip on the radar.

pro-tip having 6 people paid counts

According to ESEA, it's seven for TF2 teams.

Direct quote from an email ESEA sent out a week ago to teams that weren't paid up:

"This means that for CS / CSS you MUST have 6 players' entry fees PAID by MONDAY and 7 if you are on a TF2 team (we strongly recommend a backup). You can add or remove players throughout the season, but if you do not have 6 (7 for TF2) paid then your team will NOT be placed into the league."

I still don't see why people are still saying it won't happen, look at all the teams that have signed up.

It's happening, so just sign your team up and come play in what looks like an awesome season.

Pro-Tip: They have to pay before signing up means anything.

#5 Hawkeye 2010-08-23 17:16 Only thing that will prevent it at this point is if ESEA doesn't see a few people paying for everyone as a good thing for their business model. It's possible, but as far as I am concerned they got the money they wanted, run the season.
