Hello CommunityFortress, I am Duck and I play Scout for Detox gaming in ESEA-O. After an exciting week on Gravelpit, we’re heading into Yukon. Today I'll be giving you a rundown of the top 10 seeded teams in ESEA-O after Week 6 and what they're up against this week.
1. eMazing Gaming 10-1-1
EMg’s early season hype is proving true. They’ve had a reasonably average schedule and come out on top of most of their matches, the only loss being a close 14-17 game against Hostile Faction on Turbine. They proved they can compete at the top of the pile with the 2-1 win against Apocalypse Gaming on Gravelpit last week, but their schedule for the last two weeks of regular season is going to be tough. I’m not sure what the official deal is with all the ties currently on the ESEA records (I believe/hope that the matches will be played and not just sit there until the end of the season), but operating under the assumption that they will be played, eMg has a glaring tie against a very strong Sneaky Charger on freight that they have to get through. Luckily, they dodged a bullet by FFW’ing the match against Vicious Gaming. Good work guys! This week, first they’re hitting High Koala Tea by Freddy, an unpredictable team with some really solid talent (aka Yz50, the leader by far for scatter frags) that might make things interesting on Yukon. After that, they’ve got Rusty Buttholes, who’ve had a rough week dropping three straight matches, but with their powerhouse Snipers they could stand in the way of the eMg bus.
2. Detox 10-2-0
My team so I’m not going to comment.
3. Sneaky Charger 9-1-2
The former invite team minus stamjally plus JetFox and jason (I think) predictably finds itself in a very good spot going into Yukon despite early season assurances that they weren’t going to try and just wanted to have fun. While their only actual loss was a 3-10 on Turbine to Apocalypse Gaming, they still have two outstanding games (aka ties) against eMg and Vicious Gaming, both good teams that could conceivably beat them. They had a good week beating both Lore’s Merry Men and Mainline Gaming (former Bukakke Baptism) 2-0 on Gravelpit. This week won’t be easy for them either: they’re hitting Gentlemen’s club, who’ve had some roster problems but seem to be pretty strong right now. Next they have eXpertise, who are looking stronger and stronger as the season progresses.
4. Gentlemens Club 9-3-0
Despite their inability to grasp basic rules of punctuation (should be “Gentlemen’s), the new name that former Helix and still assholes have chosen is suitably ironic. They’ve had some roster changes throughout the season, mostly with their Scouts and Medic, but have most recently picked up Luciious, a former eMg Medic after dropping DeTh and Breeze; s-x, the former Tool Academy Grads Scout after dropping whaz and a short stint with Adroit; and sting (Thundergod on ESEA), after dropping Strife. It seems to be working out for them though, as they beat Righteous Chaps and High Koala Tea by Freddy last week on Gravelpit, both 2-0. They’ll have to hope that they’ve developed synergy with their new members fast for this week though, hitting Sneaky Charger and Apocalypse gaming on Yukon, both very dangerous teams if GC wants to stay number 4 next week.
5. eXpertise 9-3-0
eXpertise has been picking up some major steam in recent weeks, with 5 straight wins off of solid teams. Their three losses were all tightly contested games, including a brutal 10-11 loss to 50 Calibre on Turbine (and by brutal I really mean kind of boring). Last week was a very good one for eXpertise, with a 2-0 over Righteous Chaps then a very nice 2-1 over Hostile Faction (despite DaishiKiller’s 3 dropped ubers in round one), a match that they were definitely the underdogs going into. Shakr’s better than 2:1 K:D ratio as Demoman probably helped. This week is going to be tough though, they’ve got Vicious Gaming first, then Sneaky Charger, both solid teams, though VG does occasionally like to go up 4-0 on Yukon then lose.
6. Vicious Gaming 8-2-2
Led by explosive play from Droog on Demoman and Gremaud on Soldier, Vicious Gaming has been having a pretty solid season that places them stably at the 6th seed with a definite chance to move up. They still have two ties to play against Hostile Faction and Sneaky Charger, though, both hard matches that could drop them down in the standings. Last week they had a tough break getting a FFL from eMg, which, for the second time in this write-up, I’d like to point out is a real dick move from eMg. Just play your damn matches. They beat Righteous Chaps 2-0 though, so they’ll be riding a small win streak as they face eXpertise and High Koala Tea this week.
7. Apocalypse Gaming 8-2-0
Apocalypse Gaming started off the season very, very strong going 8-0 with wins against eXpertise, Vicious Gaming and Hostile Faction. Last week the freight train ground to a halt as they got their first two losses, one 3-5 on Badlands from Detox and the other 1-2 on Gravelpit from eMg. They still have a Freight to play against Hostile Faction and a Gravelpit against 50 Calibre, both of which are still outstanding in ESEA and not marked as ties for some reason. This week should be tough but doable for them with Rusty Buttholes and Gentlemens Club, if they can come up with a counter for Snipers.
8. Crack Clan 8-3-0
Here’s a surprise. Crack Clan, long a group of very cordial fellows, don’t really have a reputation as a top ten open team. They’ve had an incredibly lucky season so far, with four forfeit wins and a very easy schedule. This week though their 8 win streak will probably come to an end—they’re hitting Apoplexy Industries, who, despite some struggles this season, are still very talented; and Control Alt Defeat, who, after picking up primo, Gravegun and smash, are looking to finish their season strong and are probably capable of it.
9. Lores Merry Men 8-3-0
Lore’s Merry Men have had some great wins this season, with a commanding 5-1 over Gentlemen’s Club on Freight and a 2-0 over Rusty Buttholes last week on Gravelpit. They still have an outstanding match against Six Guys Off, but that shouldn’t be too much trouble. They get a relatively easy week this week with RoOSports and Mainline Gaming, but they shouldn’t get too cocky: Mainline’s Cowpimp (#2 Soldier in ESEA) and crew may cause some trouble for them on Yukon.
10. Rusty Buttholes 7-4-1
With the best name on the Top 10, Rusty Buttholes have had some roster problems with rumors of both Hannah Montana (Daeshon) and turtle_ leaving for Global Frequency. Rusty Buttholes were looking really good with 6 straight wins, then perhaps because of their roster issues, they dropped 3 straight and have a tie against Hostile Faction. TurtLe_ did play against Vicious Gaming and Lore’s Merry Men in their 0-2 losses in Gravelpit, but Hannah Montana did not. Hopefully Rusty Buttholes will be able to figure out a suitable substitute or convince Hannah to come back before their next two matches. They’re going to need all the help they can get against Apocalypse Gaming and eMg this week.
