CommFT is in desperate need of some writers to cover CEVO Season 5. If you are interested in covering the season, I would prefer that you are planning to play in it since this will undoubtedly add some quality (and maybe passion) to your posts. In addition to CEVO writers, we need two individuals to cover ESEA-I on a regular basis. We have ESEA-O covered moderately well at this point but ESEA-I is lacking since Phaser is busy with real life commitments.
One final note - we want someone to thoroughly cover the ESEA LAN event. Articles, pictures, videos, etc. If you are planning on attending and think you will have the time to do this, let me know.
Hello CommunityFortress, I am Duck and I play Scout for Detox gaming in ESEA-O. After an exciting week on Gravelpit, we’re heading into Yukon. Today I'll be giving you a rundown of the top 10 seeded teams in ESEA-O after Week 6 and what they're up against this week.
1. eMazing Gaming 10-1-1
EMg’s early season hype is proving true. They’ve had a reasonably average schedule and come out on top of most of their matches, the only loss being a close 14-17 game against Hostile Faction on Turbine. They proved they can compete at the top of the pile with the 2-1 win against Apocalypse Gaming on Gravelpit last week, but their schedule for the last two weeks of regular season is going to be tough. I’m not sure what the official deal is with all the ties currently on the ESEA records (I believe/hope that the matches will be played and not just sit there until the end of the season), but operating under the assumption that they will be played, eMg has a glaring tie against a very strong Sneaky Charger on freight that they have to get through. Luckily, they dodged a bullet by FFW’ing the match against Vicious Gaming. Good work guys! This week, first they’re hitting High Koala Tea by Freddy, an unpredictable team with some really solid talent (aka Yz50, the leader by far for scatter frags) that might make things interesting on Yukon. After that, they’ve got Rusty Buttholes, who’ve had a rough week dropping three straight matches, but with their powerhouse Snipers they could stand in the way of the eMg bus.
tgbf.tv is proud to cast Vicious Gaming vs. eXpertise in an important match with plenty of ESEA Open playoff implications. TONIGHT! 10 EST!
The core Vicious Gaming crew have been together for a few seasons now. However, with their early season additions of destructive demoman Droog and the very average medic Buick (6.9 to be exact), VG quickly propelled themselves from being a barely-make-the-playoffs team to one of the favorites to take home the title this season. Along with those two new additions are their soldiers Gremaud and Lange, an especially dangerous combination because they both understand their roles as pocket and roamer so well.
eXpertise is the other team we'll be casting. DaishiKiller doesn't really care about us casting and said we shouldn't really cast them because "we're bad." Cool. Impressive wins lately against 'chaps, Hostile Faction and Detox. Even their loss against eMg looks impressive being the only team able to put up points against eMg on a 5 point cp map. I'm still going to cast this match because it is one of the best ones tonight. But expect a bitter post-game interview if eXpertise wins.
The Alienware Arena Killer Edge Bigfoot Challenge wrapped up on January 30th 2010 with this Finals match between Complexity gaming and Blight gaming on cp_badlands.
Div1 may be dead, but the rest of TWL is still alive and kicking. This week is everyone's favorite map, cp_badlands. With only two more weeks left in the season, a lot of these matches will be make or break for teams looking to get a spot in the postseason. I didn't have time to cover div4 unfortunately, but I'll be sure to write preds for the lower decks once the playoffs get going. Without further ado...
The season is ¾ over and LAN hopes for many teams are diminishing. It’s insane how most of the teams this season are still in the battle for that last playoff spot, excluding Dynamic (although for some, they’ll need to play nearly perfectly for a shot at reaching the LAN). The main teams in question right now are Loaded, MMM and Blight. Blight is definitely at the back of the pack, but they’ve made some roster changes that I believe will probably help them in the long run.
Up next is Yukon. It saddens me to see this map, as it breaks the AWESOME map streak, but it should be refreshing to see a map that hasn’t been out since competitive TF2's existence. The most interesting aspect of this map is the middle fight. The mid control point takes a long time to cap and puts teams iin an extremely vulnerable position. With that said, the longest mid fights take place on this map and can cause some really interesting results.
The usual format of doing predictions is getting kind of stale, so I decided to make a slight change for this week.
A number of people have come to me asking about CEVO TF2 Season 5 divisions, placement, etc. I thought I would take the opportunity to make a list of information about it as it stands right now (I am Head of Game for CEVO TF2 if any of my readers were unaware):
- Signups will most likely begin during the NZXT RUSH event - First matches are probably going to start shortly after the RUSH event concludes - There will be three divisions: Professional, Main, and Open - Professional will have an entry fee and will be open to all teams willing to pay - Main will be free but invite and application only - The top 16 teams from the Alienware event will be invited to join Main - The top 8 teams from the RUSH event will be invited to join Main (some will probably overlap) - The top 3 teams from the RUSH event will get free entry into Professional - Open will be free and open to all teams - Prizes are up in the air right now but I am working on it as my foremost priority
This information has been in the works since November and once it is finalized, it will appear in a news post on the CEVO site.
Jesus here, today I'm going to cover the recently introduced tf_use_fixed_weaponspreads server variable (I know a month late but whatever.) When this variable was released a lot of people liked it (read: scouts) and I'm going to cover what's so great about it and how it affects your gameplay (as most leagues have now adopted this variable.) First I'll cover some basic info on the three types of shotguns in the game then I'll show a picture based analysis and then I'll link to a Youtube video that someone made that shows it in action (hey why make a video when someone's already done the work?)
eXtine : Sad news for BringAmbalamps, They won't be able to field 6. This means TGBF.tv will be covering eMg vs CAD! See ya there!
himmel : Macs, fuck yeah!
Graham : ty ty
Riff : Only if they have training wheels.
Bikini : Can Europeans airstrafe?
himmel : Kinda funny how "yaooooooo!"' is a catchphrase now :P
Grimm : Shoutout to jinn_ for being hot, since we're making shoutouts now.
chipbuster : euro demo roundtable? yesssss!!
Aristotle : Thanks extine : ) yeah no worries good luck with your work. If you guys have too many submissions maybe break it up into two top tens if it isn't too much of a hassle one for invite level players and one for open. I'm sure it would please most people. :)
djfivenine : Ain't doing so bad yourself extine. But you are already getting enough love, so I won't give you any more.
eXtine : Yea no worries dj, you been puttin out some quality content so you're covered :D We could use more peeps willing to recap matches and just keep the Front Page up to date on the state of Tournaments.
djfivenine : OOOO also, Euro Demo Roundtable coming this week!
djfivenine : Thanks for the recap again Kuiper. I am taking a break from esea articles because I didn't like the way they handled seeding. Others were free to write about it.
eXtine : Shoutout to Kuiper for his weekly recaps. Where are all the ESEA writers at?
Socrates : *clap* awesome site *clap*
eXtine : It's in the works Aristotle, little bit of technical difficulties slowing us down, and now Lange is waiting for some more opinions on Rankings, I'mma go watch demos now!
Aristotle : Patience is not a virtue I know lol :) thanks for the heads up good luck with the video making!
[wanderrful] : we had a hell of a lot more submissions this time man - of course its gonna take longer!
