The Cyber-Sports Network (“CSN”) is the operator of an online eSports league platform that facilitates gaming seasons and tournaments among players, teams and organizations. Cyber-Sports Network will strive to be the standard in eSports worldwide for competitions and communities. CSN will be offering opening events for six game titles on the PC and Xbox 360 platforms, with over $6,000 in guaranteed cash and prizes!!!
Background:
Cyber-Sports Network is founded on the beliefs and passion of online gaming. The core of CSN dates back to the early stages of gaming with its founders having a decade of casual, competitive and managerial experience. The founders Adam Zittel, Andrew Tomlinson, and Gordon Hon have been developing CSN for several years. They have a dream to unite gamers under one roof to compete at all levels of play and become one single community. They have every intention of bringing the players the best possible run events with dedicated staff members and coverage from some of eSports most renowned commentators. CSN staff members will be very involved with the community in order to make sure the right measures are taken to ensure the fairest atmosphere of play is available. The "CSN Scout" client will be used by competitors in order to keep the playing field as fair as possible and catching any cheaters along the way. The client also has its very own chat system in which players will be able to join scrim channels for their game of choice to find practice matches and pugs. We ask that everyone give CSN a fair chance at becoming the next big league, and help us spark something huge for eSports world wide.
TGL Season 5 if officially in the works and your help is needed!
Total Gaming League is hard at work dusting off the good old TF2 try pants as we prepare to launch our long delayed Season 5! TGL has been away from the TF2 scene for far too long and it's time to see some good old Rough neck TF2 once again. Some of you may not have ever even heard of TGL but the league had in fact supported the game since its release for 4 season before taking an extended break. In order to make TGL successful and enjoyable for the competitive community I am trying to focus on developing the league around specifically what the community wants and I can't do that without help from you guys!
Therefore I'll be hosting a meeting in TGL's Ventrilo (IP: 64.34.180.228 Port: 3520) tomorrow night, Thursday, at 10:00pm EST to discuss 3 major topics:
First: Game play mechanics, and by this I mean should we keep the half system or go with pauses between rounds, 30 minutes halves vs 20 minute halves, 4 points to half or 3 points. Things like this. Im gunna be honest and say I doubt major changes are going to happen but because of the recent CommFT discussions (http://commforums.com/competitive-match-.. I at least want to see what everyone thinks and maybe test something out in a preseason match or at least put it out in discussion. Things to think about for the meeting: - Break @ a Half time vs. short but longer then current breaks between rounds - Length of match both in terms of points and time - Overtime periods vs. golden cap
TGL has returned from the dead to announce their fifth season of TF2. They ran quite a few seasons back in the early days of competitive TF2 and many veterans fondly remember the TGL Roughneck Challenge. The TGL management has been looking for admins for quite some time and finally found the right Head Admin in the form of brute. Those of you who have been playing since beta will remember him from solid teams in the early CEVO and TGL events.
brute is hosting a community meeting tomorrow night (Thursday, July 22nd) at 10 PM EST to discuss match formats, maps, weapons, etc. The meeting will take place in the TGL Ventrilo server - IP: 64.34.180.228 Port: 3520. Be sure to be there if you want to voice your opinion about this upcoming season of TGL.
Round One finally finished (days after it was supposed to) and I am back for another round of Matchups and Predictions.
Division 1
Well, actually, the only two teams that had to play in week one didnt, it is the only round one match in the entire league not played, but it is also the most irrelevant. THPS is going to win division one if they bother playing their match, iP and Immigration Enforcement are just fighting for second place.
Division 2
GGG vs Carnal
No surprises that top seed GGG beat out what! but Carnal took out the higher seed bbqq in what was a rather unspecatular roll. Carnal has had a good run of the playoffs, but their dreams end here. GGG is going to win this one barring some bad play on their part or a forfiet. I dont even think this will get to map 3. 2-0 GGG
Kitty vs c.ha.r.le.s.
This one is a difficult one to call. The Thunderkitties put a scratch in charles' record during the season, but I think that with the playoffs on the line, charles will shape up and beat out the thunderkitties. This may be a pretty close match unless charles has seagull come play for them :P. I truly think that with the updated brackets, we will see GGG and charles in the finals next week. 2-1 c.h.a.r.l.e.s
All of the custom maps will be uploaded to the site prior to the week of their use. The version of cp_freight that is currently on the site has the appropriate layout but the wrong respawn timers. This will be fixed soon. cp_prolane, cp_gullywash, etc will be added as soon as possible. The community decided to ban the Sandman, the Wrangler, and the Natascha. All other weapons will be allowed. Once the Polycount Pack is released, a news release will be posted detailing CEVO's response to the new weapons. The rules will be updated to reflect this decision prior to the start of the season.
Be sure to keep an eye on the Season 6 TF2 section of the CEVO site for the latest on the season.
At the end of a near as-expected tournament, Team neXziL bested Vicious Gaming to claim the ESEA-O S6 Championship taking five of nine rounds on the competitive staple that is cp_badlands. While ehFK's squad had a tactical aggression that systematically handed them several rounds in the showdown, tehoreoz's team had their own simple strategy: out-frag the opposing team.
With TicTac's timely use of the utility Pyro right out of the gate to hand them a sub-1:00 first round to vhalinman and Ggglygy's use of utility classes—most notably the Natasha-equipped Heavy—nxzL` was able to survive and outlast [vg]'s strategies to attack in the match.
The CEVO S6 Community Map Meeting is going down tonight at 10PM EST in the CEVO Ventrilo server (texas.cevo.nationvoice.com ::: port 4000). From the news release:
The debate about competitive TF2 maps and weapons has been heated across all of the competitive TF2 coverage websites. Among the maps suggested are the following:
It seems that the community agrees on the necessity of some of these maps but can't decide on others. The map controversy is mirrored in the case of weapons. Some people want Sandman, others don't. Some people want limits on Engineers because of their new weapons, others don't.
Since it is hard for me to gauge the preferences of the community as a whole, I have decided to host a community meeting in the CEVO Ventrilo server next Tuesday, July 20th at 10PM EST. The server info is texas.cevo.nationvoice.com ::: port 4000. Be sure to be there if you have an opinion on this season's rotation.
Be sure to be there if you are playing this season.
I hope everyone enjoyed the weekends events with the ESEA-Invite TF2 playoffs, but now we've got the final match being played throughout the entire season ready for you! Live on July 19, 2010 at 11:00PM EDT, Pwnage.TV will be broadcasting you the ESEA-Open Season 6 TF2 Finals between Team neXziL and Vicious Gaming.
Casting and video by Leonardo "leogeo2" Gonzalez. #pwnage.tv on irc.gamesurge.net to get your shoutouts and predictions in live on air!
To all the low and low-mid teams out there, UGC will be kicking off their new season (season five) on August 4th. There will be a week of pre-season play followed by eight weeks of regulation play and then a playoff series.
I know UGC gets looked down on a lot by the upper teams, but honestly, the league is as good as TWL any more. The only real difference these days is the quality of the teams enrolled (TWL has a handful of mid and mid+ teams in addition to all of the low and low-mid ones) and the fact that UGC's admins can actually be contacted without a week waiting period between your post and their response.
Snowblindfrog from Magnolia Thunderkitty has been working with Fornaught, the long-time UGC head admin, to improve the league going into next season. A new, two-division structure and an improved map rotation are just two of the changes he hopes to implement going forward, which should make the league that much more appealing to any teams looking for a place to get started. Hopefully they do some tweaking of the configs too, because last season they were pretty awful.
While my team will no longer be participating in UGC (there comes a time when all kids have to grow up, right?), I definitely recommend it for any younger teams that are put off by TWL's lack of admin support and aren't quite ready to drop cash to get beat up week in and week out in ESEA-O. This league is a perfect counter-part to CEVO-A, and I highly encourage new teams to enroll in both to get in some reps.
Hey all. First, big thanks to everyone who turned up during the ESEA LAN coverage. I speak for everyone on the crew when I say that we're really grateful for our audience. We're sorry we weren't able to bring the entire thing in full video, but we did what we could considering our collective situations - getting an entire weekend free is harder for some of us than others. :)
That all said, we are looking to expand both the quantity and quality of our content during the next season. A few of the ways we're planning to do this are through some new programming formats, some additional improvements to the live viewing experience both in-stream and on the page, and the addition of a second member of the team capable of streaming the top-quality video our audience has come to expect from us.
An additional way that we're planning to expand could involve some of you folks in a more active way. Over the weekend it was clear that our simulcasts over mumble have become a successful addition to the way that we deliver commentary, and we'd like to leverage our rather large 500-slot mumble (many thanks to EOReality.net) to greater effect. At the same time, we'd like to begin cultivating more commentary talent, as well as provide a means for a lot more matches to receive the sort of live coverage they deserve.
We're plan to achieve this by opening up a general casting call until the end of the month. Qualified applicants will receive access to book shows on our website and utilize our mumble server to stage audio broadcasts. Qualifications will generally be minimal (decent standing within the community, generally articulate, have played the game a bit, etc) and there will be no requirements as far as output. You'll have the freedom to cover whatever matches you'd like and cast as frequently as you want. We simply wish to provide a means for interested individuals to get involved with the commentary side of things, and those that do well will certainly be 'called up' to do shows on the main stream with the rest of the regular crew.

Crazy intense fun to watch action in tonights matches. I wasn't able to catch much of the first two matches, but in both the higher seed prevailed. This sent Blight.Own and eMg into the Lower bracket to battle for survival.
The first map, Granary, resulted in a 5-3 win for Blight.OWN and eMg facing a potential elimination in the second map Gravel Pit. Things turned around for eMg however as they were able to take both sets of the stopwatch match. I strolled home from work to catch the last map Yukon which turned into quite the slugfest. A tense first half ended with eMg up 2-1, but at the start of the second Blight turned it on. First they made it 2-2, then rounds were traded again to make it 3-3. Blight.OWN took it to 4 to get the first shot at match point before eMg leveled with only a few minutes left in the half through a sweet YZ50 backcap. Blight barnstormed mid on the start of the next round however, leading to an easy take of the 2nd point and a sudden attack on the last point. Platinum, with good heals from BlackyMonster, came up big with the clock ticking down, scoring a triple kill from a top the shack. Blight took the round and eliminated eMg from the tournament. It was a spirited match with the Yukon map most definitely going to be turned into an eXtv.
Another TF2 classic followed the Blight.OWN and eMg match with the Upper Bracket Final between Blight.Fanom and Complexity. Before I get into the results, if you have time to watch the Videos on Demand from TGBF.tv, check the action out. The replay starts with the 2nd map with m0lk and eXtine on the mic. Read more for a recap of the entire match.
Both TGBF and PwnageTV will be covering the ESEA-I Season 6 LAN finals this weekend. The action started Saturday at 11AM CST with compLexity taking on Blight A Team. The STVs can be found HERE once Killing posts them.
