Here's a video commentary on a scrim shdwpuppet sent me. Not sure how it turned out after all the technical problems from my first time doing this, but hopefully it's useful to someone. All four parts are below, or you can click the above link for all four together in a playlist:
That get your blood pumping? Did it move you out of your chair, twist you up, send you screaming down the block in nothing but Bermuda shorts and butter? No? Fear not. I have the medicine.
Let's get into another edition of the Highlander Strategy Series, this time with Sylon from Death Marked Soldiers. DMS kicked my team into the lower bracket early in the tournament, but they're very polite chaps and it was more of a gentlemanly shove. Oh, good day, sir. It appears we are in the midst of a Fortressy Teamed match. Do get off my control point!
And off we went to the lower bracket, tipping our hats. So, without further ado, let's get into it!
I've been mentoring more teams and people of the last few weeks than my schedule can reasonably fit, and in doing so, I've found that pretty much every mentee enjoys sitting down and going over a demo with my commentary and analysis thrown on top. I've gone over their personal demos, and I've gone over demos from better players to give analysis and explanations to illuminate their play.
The great thing about going over demos in mumble is that more than just my specific mentees can watch what's going down. That's why I've decided to make the whole process of demo review a regular thing. Starting tonight, late(12:30 est), I'll be going over some demos from my main mentees, cosmos, and hopefully one demo from a different set of mentees, and maybe one demo from higher level play. After every demo, I'll have a short QnA session where if anything I said was too vague I can expand on it, or if you noticed something that I didn't explain and you wanted it reviewed, that would work too.
Everyone, regardless of skill level is invited and welcome to come!
Peter constructed the followed letter in response to Free's Screaming Eagle's #23 Article, but due to the character limitations of comments, and the general length, I am instead posting it here. Click read more to see what Peter Mansbridge has to say for himself on the issues raised by Free, and my own views on the issue at hand.
Ladies and gents, Southern Hospitality-ers and Glovers of Running Amok, welcome back to Screaming Eagles.
Folks, sometimes--sometimes--old Free just has to get his hands dirty. I like to keep Screaming Eagles focused squarely on the game; TF2 is what we love and play. Darn tooting it's the focus. If we played with oatmeal, well, Screaming Porridge might be a very different, very goopey thing. But sometimes I have to shift the focus a little and direct the lens on the people who inhabit the TF2 community.
Why?
Because sometimes those people get into all sorts of positions--admins, coverage, what have you--and then they pull hoo-ha that simply wouldn't fly elsewhere. Matter of fact, it shouldn't fly in the TF2 community. So, here's another Screaming Eagles on sportsmanship with a nice thick lens directed at a well-known TF2 personality: Peter Mansbridge.
6PM Pacific 9PM Eastern is when the match is scheduled to kick off, although the eXtv stream will be going live approximately 30 minutes before start time with an interview of some Inglorious Broadcaster players.
Inglorious Broadcasters will be taking on Classic Mix-Up in the best of 3 culmination of the UGC season. The maps are Steel, Badlands, and GravelPit.
If you haven't noticed already, we have a link up on the right side of the front page for donations to the prize pot for the Highlander event. If you have a spare dollar or two, toss it in the pot and we'll add it to the prizes. Thanks.
Ladies and gents, welcome back to another of Community Fortress' Highlander Strategy Series. Up this time, Hymm from Couch Athletics tackles the tough questions on what makes a Highlander team tick and tack. Or maybe just tick. I'm not sure what tacking would be. Would it be sticky? Would it require laser eyes? Voo-doo? Dark Engie Sorcery?
Forget it! Let's stick to the ticks and get into it!
That's right folks, we need more people writing articles about the North American competitive 6v6 scene. We want more articles coming from competitive community members about ESEA, CEVO, TWL, UGC, etc. It doesn't matter what division you want to cover, we just want coverage so that people can read about matches, tournaments, leagues, players, and so on.
Get at me on the forums if you are interested (drop a PM to Graham).
Yours truly, partnered with the always incredible Community Fortress and the sexy smooth jinn_ are working to bring you the second incarnation of everyone's favorite weekly talk show, the Community Fortress Podcast.
Please make sure you have the ability to dedicate time to this project, I don't want to have to hunt you down or coerce you into doing the, quite substantial, amount of work that goes into the research, recording, interviewing, post processing, uploading, writing etc that goes into a project like this. I would like to be able to record Friday, Saturday or Wednesday but again, time we can all get on Skype (or, my favorite now, mumble!) is to be determined.
Also, I hate to make it about personality and voice, but to do this, you have to be lively, funny, have a good speaking voice and diction, be fairly talkative and have a lot of initiative. I am looking for 2 people or so, but a 4 man cast wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing if we all worked together nicely.
So if you can work on a schedule, have all the qualifications listed above as well as either a deep understanding of the game or the community (familiarity with the teams in the various leagues etc) then hit me up at steamcommunity.com/id/shdwpuppet or email me at

Thanks everyone, I look forward to working with whoever gets the spot!
The only active Highlander competition around Europe at the moment - the CommFT HL Tournament EU division - has reached the Upper Bracket finals. With the lower bracket stage reaching the quarter finals, there is still a long road ahead for most teams until they reach the Grand Final. But tonight, 1 team out of SNSD and Public Power have the chance to book their place in the final with the losers getting relegated to the Lower Bracket finals.
SNSD are the undisputed kings of Highlander with an ETF2L Gold medal coming (eventually) from Valve and they want to win this event to get more swag. The biggest hope left to stop TheSucker from filling his closet with signed Robin Walker t-shirts is the UGC 3rd placed team Public Power. The Russian community team made their way to the final by beating the likes of ETF2L Madmins, Chior Tai and Combat Folks. SNSD have certainly had a harder route, taking down UK’s finest community team, Quad Damage and knocking the Angry German Kids into the lower bracket.
The map tonight is the relatively unknown and untried competitive map that is koth_lakeside_final, playing a first to 4 rounds series. The match will go down at 2 PM EST. VanllaTV open mic steps up again with Comedian, Hildreth and the return of Highlander casting professional Sheridyn for a night of action packed fun.
Community Fortress's Highlander Tournament has been progressing nicely, with the North American division having it's Upper Bracket Final tonight. The map is Koth_Lakeside and the teams are Kawaii Explosion and Oepipus and the Mother F***ers.
